While there are a million platforms begging for your money to get you leads and clients, today I want to focus on something a little different. Did you know there are ways you can get organic audience growth in your coaching business?
If you didn’t then this is the blog for you! If you did but you’re still reading then you’re probably like me… “Of course you can get organic growth! But does it actually work? Can it happen fast enough? Will it actually lead to sales?”
I’m here to tell you that YES! It does actually work, it can lead to sales, and it can happen much faster than you think. Now full disclosure, I don’t rely solely on organic growth and neither should you. In 2022 the coaching market is saturated and separating yourself from the crowd can be difficult. That’s why you should ultimately have a well rounded, balanced approach to growth without putting all your eggs in one basket.
That said, organic growth is a critical part of your business that you should be taking seriously. Building a qualified audience of people who are interested in your business builds rapport with future customers while helping to establish your authority on your coaching subject.
I have 3 key tips I want to share with you that I use to grow my audience organically.
1) Get really clear on your coaching niche
I’m a strong believer that your audience should be full of people similar to yourself. As a coach you’re selling yourself to your audience. You are the ideal version of what they want! So you should build your brand and image accordingly.
Getting really clear on who you help and what you help them with enables you to attract people who are motivated for change and ready to hire you. If you can build your messaging around the specific pain points they experience, then you can convey the importance of your solution to them. The more clear you get on their interests, behaviors, demographics, and values the easier it is to attract them just by putting yourself out there.
The first step of every program I sell is always about building your brand. Taking a deep dive into the specifics on who you are trying to help builds a strong foundation for the rest of your business. Having a cohesive and complete brand image keeps all of your content relevant and specific to your ideal client.

2) Post everywhere, often
Social media has its ups and downs but as a coaching business owner it will be inescapable. Your presence on social media is probably one of the most important drivers of organic growth.
This is why I say having clarity on your coaching niche is so important! When you’re clear on your niche then posting on social media gets easier and easier. You know exactly who you’re talking to and exactly what pain points you’re trying to speak to.
It may seem weird at first, but you should be posting on social media platforms AT LEAST daily! No doubt you’ll feel repetitive. It may even feel like you run out of things to say. But posting often is critical to driving organic audience growth. Come up with a schedule that will hold you accountable to actively engaging with social media. This schedule should include regular posts, comments, and engagement that will keep your name in people’s feeds.
Pro-Tip: If you’re like me, every few days you get a burst of motivation and energy to create things. Use this time to write multiple posts! Create graphics that are eye-catching and posts that will hit on the same pain points and inspire people to take action. THEN, use this pre-created content to drip out onto your social media over the rest of the week. There are platforms you can use to do this like SocialPilot however you can also just post them yourself.
3) Plan out your SEO
SEO Stands for Search Engine Optimization. What does that really mean? When someone types a question into google, google will then look through its list of websites using an algorithm to find the most relevant pages to return. This algorithm picks pages based on a complex and always changing list of factors it is taking into account about your page.
While SEO can be a nitty-gritty topic, we’ll keep it nice and simple here. Your coaching niche should include a keyphrase that encompasses your offers in 1-4 words. For example, I am a business coach that helps coaches develop their own signature programs so I may use the phrase “Program Development Business Coach”.
Knowing what your phrase is will help you work it into every page, every post, and every piece of information you put out onto the internet. This way when people search for “Program Development for Coaches” google can say that my page is pretty relevant to what they’re looking for.
Obviously SEO goes much much MUCH deeper than this but as a general guideline it is important to keep your messaging cohesive. You WANT to be repetitive because that is how algorithms will establish your credibility on a subject.
